Ear Treatment

Ear has two primary functions:

  1. Hearing and auditory processing
  2. Maintenance of balance.

The ear has three parts:

  1. The outer ear: It consists of the pinna and the external auditory canal. It serves the function of collecting the sound waves from all directions and concentrating them towards the middle ear.
  2. Middle ear: It is the area of the ear behind the drum. The middle ear has a tiny chain of three bones that vibrate in reaction to the soundwave. The Middle ear is connected to the back of the nose and throat through a tube called the Eustachian tube. Cold and flu symptoms can block this tube due to excessive mucus giving rise to pain and hearing loss.
  3. Inner ear: The inner ear has two parts, the Cochlea and the Labyrinth. The cochlea processes the sounds received from the middle ear and transmits them to the auditory nerve. The labyrinth is associated with the maintenance of balance.
